Genderbalance

Actions to promote equal opportunities at the ISBC2023

From the ISBC2023 organizing committee we are highly committed to promote gender balance and geographical diversity, especially from developing countries of Southern Europe, Eastern European non-EU countries and South and Central America.

We have put forward a number of initiatives to ensure gender balance and promote the involvement of women in Crystallography and crystallization at all stages of their career, and ensure, as far as possible, equal opportunity for male and female.

These organization issues include:

  1. The organization committee is in charge of gender balance (gender balance advisor) and analyses and develop policies that ensure a fair gender balance.
  2. We will create statistics on women attending the School to a) set gender balance aims b) analyse evolution of the community.
  3. We have developed a speaker policy ensuring that there is a minimum of 40% of speakers of both genders.
  4. The environment of the school will be family friendly, with children at no extra cost.
  5. After the school, these initiatives will be critically analyzed.

In addition, the IUCr, who have kindly provided bursaries for young scientists attending the meeting, have issued the following gender policy statement: https://www.iucr.org/iucr/principles-and-policies/gender-balance
